1000bhp Subaru Impreza Time Attack Car Confirmed for Japfest Silverstone 2026
Japfest Silverstone 2026 is set to welcome one of the most extreme Subaru builds ever created, as this 2006 Subaru Impreza Toshi Arai Spec Time Attack car joins the show display. Built with a clear focus on performance, engineering and aerodynamics, this UK-built project represents years of development and will be on display for visitors to experience up close at Silverstone.

A Subaru Built for Time Attack
Originally purchased in 2008 and used as a daily driver, the car has undergone a complete transformation over the years. Early modifications allowed it to enter Time Attack UK, where it quickly became competitive. By 2013, the build had evolved significantly, featuring wider bodywork, full fibreglass panels and a custom roll cage. That same year, the car secured the Club Time Attack Championship title and went on to compete at the European Time Attack Masters at Zandvoort, finishing second in the 4WD class. Inspired by some of the most advanced Time Attack builds globally, the project then took a major step forward, with the aim of creating a far more extreme machine.

Complete Chassis and Performance Overhaul
The car now features a full spaceframe chassis designed by Nigel Rees of Race-Dyn, alongside a double wishbone suspension setup, anti-roll bars and Penske dampers. Power comes from a heavily developed EJ-based engine built by TEG Sport, producing around 1000bhp, with mapping handled by RaceDynamix. A Modena sequential gearbox and motorsport-grade drivetrain complete the package. Additional highlights include a Syvecs ECU, Motec electronics package, BOSCH Motorsport ABS system and a full dry sump setup from Zen Performance. The car also runs a fully custom aerodynamic package, including bespoke bodywork and a full flat floor, all developed by the owner. Performance targets for the build include a weight of 1200kg, 1000bhp output and approximately 2500kg of downforce, placing it firmly in the upper tier of Time Attack engineering.
A Continually Evolving Build
The project continues to develop, with further testing and setup work planned. Final adjustments to the paddle shift system are currently underway, alongside additional refinement with Race-Dyn. A new billet engine, developed with IAG Subaru in the United States, is also planned for installation in the near future. Designed to exceed current power levels, this next stage will push the car even further.
On Display at Japfest Silverstone 2026

This Subaru will be part of the Japfest Silverstone display, joining an already impressive line-up of motorsport-inspired cars. Alongside it will be a home-built Time Attack Subaru Impreza, a selection of Group A Nissan Skyline R32 GT-Rs, Spoon Sports’ S2K imported from Japan for the show and a Smokey Nagata’s Top Secret R35 GT-R, creating the strongest performance-focused displays at the event EVER.

Japfest Silverstone continues to showcase the very best of Japanese car culture, from track builds and competition cars to iconic road-going machines. Visitors attending the 2026 event will have the opportunity to see this build in detail and learn more about the engineering behind one of the most extreme Subaru projects in the UK.
